Periwinkles are types of marine snails – small, edible whelks or sea snails a.k.a Isawuru (Yoruba) or Isam (Ibibio). It is one of the majorly eaten food in African homes. It is one of the flavour-adding constituents of most Nija soups like Afang, Egusi, most vegetable soups etc.
It is organically processed, with no chemical preservatives added, and under strict hygienic condition. It is sold either (removed) from the shells or left in the shell (shelled); For best export result, it is removed from shell, salted, sun/oven-dried or frozen, and vacuum-sealed.
